A Welcome from the Principal
Welcome to the web site for St. John’s School in Dover, DE! For many years the members of St. John’s Lutheran Church dreamed about providing quality Christian education to families in the Dover community. This dream was first realized when, in 1989, the Early Learning Center was opened to provide a carefully constructed pre-school and day care program with an emphasis on sharing the Gospel. This dream was further realized when, in the year 2000, our elementary school was opened here on Walker Road. |

We began our program by moving our Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten to this building and then adding grades 1 & 2 the following Fall. Today, we offer a complete program from Pre Kindergarten through eighth grade. God has richly blessed us!
St. John’s provides an excellent academic program, many opportunities for the acquisition of leadership skills and service to the community, and a wide variety of instructional methods and opportunities -- all carried out in the context of the Gospel. Our commitment to Christ-centered education allows for an environment which inspires students to grow in faith and in service to their Lord. The school curriculum is designed to meet the needs of the whole child – to help him/her grow academically, physically, and spiritually. Students receive instruction in religion, language arts, science, mathematics, social studies, problem solving, music, physical education, Chinese, and art. Field trips supplement the classroom curriculum and provide a hands-on approach to instruction. Various worship experiences, including a weekly school chapel service, set the tone for all the instruction and activity during the week. Our daily morning assembly serves to enrich the school community by providing a brief opportunity at the start of each day for students, teachers, and parents to come together to sing, pray, and share important moments.
